The lawsuit was over the football (NFL/NCAA) sports games, and it was from a monopoly dispute. Myself and my brother got checks from EA for the settlement. EA has many things going on, BF4 is a DICE game first and honestly, DICE has lost it in my eyes. Yeah the commander thing is kinda cool, but all in all they are just becoming more like COD when COD should be becoming more like BF2 in my eyes. COD and the first 2 expansions were direct competition to BF1942. Then COD went console with COD2 and DICE said FRACKALLYALL and released 2142. 2142 was a better game but COD was on Xbox, and the smaller maps and power of the shotgun was known. COD was fun BF was PC only and kids never saw it because at that time the PC was in your living room and parents actually gave a damn about its usage. It wasn't exactly an in the bedroom piece of the household yet. Consoles were, so kids played CoD2 and loved it, not knowing that COD was a BF clone. Fast forward 10 years, COD is now the name people know and BF is the game of people going on 45-60. Because they had the PCs for gaming 15 years ago. It is a sad state of affairs. The way games have progressed and then regressed in the last 10 years. When the original Xbox came out I was in my 20s and loved HALO and the fact that I could play Ghost Recon without spending a thousand dollars on a new PC rig. Now I am sad that the dumbed down versions are what people think were the good ****. HALO was not dumbed down. GR was not dumbed down, infact, GR:IT was possibly the best console shooter ever. Then HALO 2 came out with its matchmaking.......SAD days. Gone are the days of lobbies, gone are the days of clans hosting a server. Gone are the days of 4 AM shooter in the lobby shouting matches between drunken clans. . . I want the old days back. I want control. I want what you youngins don't even know what you are missing. PC and Xbox servers. No match making, just a list of servers and you joined them, and had fun.
For everyone calling for a better match maker in DUST I say FUCKOFF!!!. what DUST needs is a server browser. I will host a server, I have a 60 meg down 20 meg up connection in Pittsburgh, PA. All you east coast slangers can jump on my server and kick the ISK out of each other all night. But we can't do that now... We have dedicated servers, and matchmaking and no control over who we play with. I blame the NSA infiltrating WOW as the result of this cesspool we call the internet now. Everyone wants control, yet the companies hold it all...... Remember when servers were free and games were fun? We would build friends list and send messages. "Hey man, boot someone so I can join server." "Hold on, ROC is here talking about how hey would destroy us." "Sweet, do a nade spam and then kick the randoms so we can kick ROCs ass." "FMJs are in here as well so we are going to do a joint nade spam then we got two clan matches tonight." "Damned handicapped FMJs will always ***** about server even if we crash theirs with nade spam." "Camp Killjoy is strong though. They agree to play here." "Let's go MOFO!!!!!"
The good ol'days. You never get that from matchmaking. |
